Telfar was founded in New York in 2005 by Liberian-American designer Telfar Clemens, with the now-iconic motto “Not For You — For Everyone.” The brand rose to global prominence with its Shopping Bag — affectionately known as the “Bushwick Birkin” — a vegan leather tote available in multiple sizes and a wide spectrum of colours that became one of the most sought-after accessories of its era.
