Spara Keramik, Germany — 1947 to 1985
Founded in 1947 by Ludwig Spang in the town of Ransbach-Baumbach in the Kannenbäckerland (the "jug-bakers' land"), where Europe’s largest clay deposit sits. Named after Spang crossed with Ransbach. Ceramics made here had a Middle Eastern influence. Spara mainly used light coloured clay or red-orange clay. Turkish designer Halidin Kutlu was one the studio’s key designers in the 70’s. Modern production started in the late 60’s and closed in 1985 when it was bought by Hark GmbH & Co. KG and turned into a furnace and fireplace manufacturer.
