A Moment With: Stephanie Gee

A Moment With: Stephanie Gee

Stephanie Gee of Gee Beauty is fascinated by the continuing journey of wellness and the effects of not only how we take care of ourselves on the surface, but how our journey starts from within (from nutrition to mindfulness). VSP chats with Stephanie about skincare essentials, her favourite piece at VSP, and the Gee Beauty philosophy.

If we were to come in for a complete beauty and skincare overhaul at Gee Beauty, where would you start?
The first question I ask someone when they tell me they want to start taking care of their skin is 'what are your skin goals?’ From there, I can focus on what the most result driven products and treatments would be to achieve those goals. I always recommend to start with a facial. A great facial (I recommend our signature Medi Multi Express Facial) allows us to reset the skin, see what it can tolerate and what it needs to repair, correct and prevent. In terms of products, I believe in starting with a concentrated Vitamin C serum (Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic is my go-to), a light-weight eye cream (Dr. Dennis Gross Dew It All Eye Gel is one of my favourites) and a clean SPF. From there we can build on night serums, masks, beauty tools and more!
I also like to always touch base on the importance of beauty from the inside. An alkalizing supplement, like the WelleCo Super Elixir (available at Gee Beauty), can make a huge impact on the digestive system, therefore improving our skin through detoxification!

What are the essential building blocks in beauty and skincare that everyone needs?
Gee Beauty is all about lifestyle beauty so I always like to recommend 5-10 hero products that will be easy to incorporate into your morning and evening routines! My essentials are: Vitamin C serum, Eye Cream, Hyaluronic Acid Serum, SPF, Gee Beauty’s Prime Skin, Concealer, Bronzer, Brow Gel and Lipstick/Lipgloss. I have a YouTube video all about 5 minute beauty on my channel!

What is exciting you about the beauty industry right now?
I love how much attention the beauty industry is getting in general! I feel that people are starting to understand the importance and value of taking care of the skin by using preventative skincare, going for high-tech facials and wearing makeup to enhance their natural beauty. I also love the connection people are making between what we put into our bodies and what we put on our skin. It’s a system and ultimately, everything counts. That makes me excited!

How do you maintain a balanced lifestyle between work, personal life, and wellness?
Balance is a forever goal and being an entrepreneur means that you’re never not ‘working’, but truthfully, I don’t know life any differently! I grew up in an entrepreneurial family, so whenever we wanted something, we knew we had to go out there and make it happen. I certainly try to do it all but it’s hard! I’ve recently started working out 6 days a week, first thing in the morning, and it’s helped me tremendously. I use those 45 minutes to work on my body, let my mind work through ideas and sweat out my stress. I keep my social network tight (because quality or quantity), believe in therapy and make sure to surround myself with people I can learn from and laugh with! Let’s just say, I’m a forever work in progress.

Who are the designers that really speak to your personal style at the moment?
I’m definitely more a style person than fashion person. I admire fashion but I’m also happy to wear the same type of outfit on the daily! I’m a mix of Levi’s and Chanel: comfortable and classic. I love to mix playful lines like Moschino and Fendi with a vintage t-shirt or my Markoo leather jacket. I get inspired by these incredibly cool girls on Instagram from Italy and Amsterdam who make an oversized blazer look sexy.

What are you looking forward to adding to your wardrobe this season?
This insanely cool Adidas x Danielle Cathari red suit from VSP! How sick is it? The moment I saw it on the hanger, I knew it had to be mine! I was just telling Britt how I’m trying to figure out my ‘workout look’ and we both saw this suit and said it was exactly what I needed. I’m so in love!

Condition Chart

VSP Consignment hand-selects our collections by our stylists to include masterfully crafted, versatile, and contemporary pieces. Although many of our pieces are pre-owned, we strive to collect items of excellent condition, but on occasion, there may be slight signs of wear. We try our best to mention all flaws in our product descriptions. On pieces that do not include the size and fabric tag, we make an educated guess to the best of our ability, and it is noted in the description.
