A Moment With: Natasha Geddes
Natasha Geddes is an Integrative Nutritionist and founder of Good Goddess, a wellness and nutrition brand that takes a fresh, contemporary look at getting healthy. Her approach to wellness allows for the complicated aspects of life. She eases those who may be beginning their health journey by breaking down the intimidating elements of nutrition with zero judgement.
VSP chats to Natasha about her definition of wellness, the common factors people neglect about their health, and her evolving style.
What are some common things people neglect about their health and well-being?
I find a lot of people neglect eating what’s right for their bio-individuality. It takes time to figure out what your body needs to be satisfied and energized but (for example) jumping on a keto diet may not be what your body needs long term. When you take the time to explore different ways of eating (i.e. drink broth, try eating less meat, cut out dairy), you’ll eventually never have to “diet” again and grow to love and respect your food.
How do you personally define wellness?
As an Integrative Nutritionist, we believe that health and wellness is all about both food off AND on the plate. Meaning you can eat really well but if you’re in a bad relationship or hate your job, you’re not actually “well”. We need to take the time to take care of ourselves in a well-rounded way and really commit to making little tweaks in life that will add up and make you truly healthy.
Tell us some simple steps people can take when beginning their wellness journey.
Don’t overthink…be really mindful of what you put into your body 90% of the time (ask yourself, how will I feel after this?), and then do the naughty things 10% of the time. 95% and 5% is even better, but don’t set yourself up for disappointment. Explore natural supplements like Good Goddess product. Sometimes you don’t know what you need until you find it. Move your body (even just a little) everyday.
What are some of the things you do before leaving the house in the morning?
I wake up before my family to make my GG coffee: our Boostina coffee blended with our Fantastic Fat MCT oil, Powderful Collagen and a touch of grass-fed butter. Then I enjoy one cup alone, and bring the other cup to work! I also love walking the kids to school, I find it’s a great way to start the day.
How would you describe your style, and how does it change from day to night?
In my past life, I was a buyer for Holt Renfrew so I definitely appreciate beautiful designer pieces (especially shoes) but since launching GG the “sporty, sex, cool” vibe is a lot more fitting. Then I tend to update/balance that look for night with great heels or if I choose to wear Nikes at night, I make sure it’s with a cool dress. It's all about balance!
What pieces are you coveting for the FW ‘19 season?
I’d love to find a great designer packpack, a hybrid between a handbag and the totally un-chic backpack I’m currently rocking. I could also use a great wool coat.
What are you looking forward to in the near future?
We’re launching beautiful new products and can’t wait to expand into the US market.
